Stars and Stripes

Things are getting patriotic in the Falls, the band riffing out a rendering of Sousa's Stars and Stripes Forever, America's national march. The musicianship before me is really something to behold, one musician saying to another, "Stars and Stripes?" A melody is immediately plunked out. On the other side of the stage a baseline emerges. Drums kick in. A shared musical intuition makes for an insistent and kinetic energy.
