Tech Puppy Love
First look for play 5?
Building it...
Breaking bones seems to be a curse for the leads of ACT's recent show "Pilgrims.....in the New World." Carol's got a broken foot.
While light cues get built and stage is spiked, the band played on, rehearsing their theme song.
....and then...
AAAHHHH!! Frickin Air Supply! AAAAHHHHH!
And with that a band member darts up the aisle declaring "It's Beer-o'clock."
Patience? Having to walk around in frickin flippers
Jason's feeling so good, he takes a chill on the couch

As usual, I failed at napping, but my husband made me a grilled cheese sandwich and I ate it lying in the hammock in the backyard, so that was nice.

Instructions for Making a Play made it to tech!
Checking back in with Instructions for Making a Play and they're on the stage for tech with freshly printed scripts being handed to the band and crew. This is the only ensemble generated play tonight(historians - is it the only ensemble generated piece in all of 14/48?) and they've spent the day working on using Mallery's instructions to get here.
They're taking a little extra time to set their special lighting and to get the set just the way they want it. The opening features a mix of live music from the band and recordings of text that Lisa and Mik got from pedestrians on the streets around ToJ.
Remember, since all of this morning was spent researching, preparing and doing fieldwork, they've created all of the text, movement, blocking, cues and everything else this afternoon. And it even has a cue for a couple audience members. This is a 14/48 dream team we're dealing with, people.
Even a minor injury during tech couldn't hold them up.

Show #3 officially has a script!
As of 3:21pm, Annie is officially typing up the script for Instructions for Making a Play. They're an hour ahead of time for their tech!
Highlights from the director's meeting
Show #1 - "Is the dildo in the box?"
Show #2 - The director has cut a couple lines, but assured everyone that "there's direction happening" in lieu of it.
Show #3 - "The only thing I'm waiting on is a ship in a bottle. Don't ask."
Show #4 - Monster Mash has a ritual that needs to be carefully timed with the band - they'll be using their tech to set that along with the song.
Show #5 - Simple tech set up from director Carol, but with a great list of props!
Show #6 - Tech question all comes down to velour - who wants it, who might have it, but with assurances that it'll be here in time for tech.
Show #7 - Director Makaela is asking to test out 3 different lighting schemes to get the right effect for the waterfall.

Instructions for Making a Play in the afternoon
Since last checking in on the show being created from a series of instructions, the women behind Instructions for Making a Play have pulled together all of their research and props gathered from the morning (jump ropes, guides, bonzai trees, etc) to create a narrative and series of actions.
They're wrapping up the final blocking and sound cues right now, getting closer to tech time!
Puppy Love post-lunch
The Puppy Love rehearsal is right in the middle of all the action. Their space is near the stage where the band is already rehearsing the theme song, just by where all the props and set pieces are being put together and within earshot of the 14/48 headquarters where the Steering Committee is prepping for tonight's open.
In the midst of all that, they're running lines, tightening up the pace and practicing with some of the costumes (have I mentioned flippers?). Line I heard as I was leaving:
"Its a big world - you're the goldfish and I'm the shark."
Night One Props
The design team is pulling together a list of items that includes everything from scuba gear to limbs. A trip to Champions has been debated to get everything that's needed for tonight!

Pride Cometh After the Fall(s) pre-lunch
Director Makaela just started a read through with her cast - all of whom are offbook before lunch! - and they're running lines like:
"He is a boutique flavor"
"He's kind of like a Harry Potter hampster."
Overheard in the main room
Sitting in the empty main room, I can hear directors advising their actors, the band tuning, laughter and...barking from at least one of the rehearsal spaces.
