Play #1 The Best of Times, The Worst of Times is planning a run and the actors are getting set to make their entrances. Once they figure out the entrance cue, it's on. The run happens with just one small correction for blocking. Teched with 1 minute to spare. Like butter.
And, as always, the band sounds amazing. I'm a sucker for a good musical transition.
Play #2 One Small Catch is waiting in the wings. I've been hearing a lot about a gruesome prop involved in this show and wonder if I'm going to see it in action.
The mood is completely different. Director Desdemona Chiang stops to work transitions and occasionally redirect her actors to another spot on the stage. There is a hella complicated light cue and time is running short. And now it's time to move on.
Oh, not gruesome yet, but I think I see what's coming. (Ew.)
Play #3 My Pet and My Dead Pet is up next and ready to go after figuring out a complicated transition, which the crew handles like rock stars. I'm getting to see a run of this one too. This morning when Manny Cawaling first read the script, he kept giggling and gasping and I can see why he was so excited about. And I can't imagine a better cast for this show--these ladies are hilarious! And I'm really excited to see what's going to happen with costuming.
And we're still one minute ahead of schedule.
