Pre-Draw Jitters

From the balcony of the Bullitt Cabaret I'm looking down at a roomful of directors and playwrights who have paired off after random play assignments have been distributed. This is typically the only window of opportunity for directors to collaborate with the playwrights before the writers head home for some desperately needed shuteye! The designer team is huddled up at a roundtable blazing through seven script-readings, identifying costume, prop and set needs and compiling to-do lists for the day. They have a lot of heavy lifting to do and tech rehearsal comes earlier than not. Actors are groggily trickling in. I see Tracy Leigh is wearing PJs...
